I was looking through google for a site where I could make a portfolio and found deviantART. I decided to try it out and liked it. I've been using this site as my portfolio for school and work as well as for fun and talking with people. But then my account got hacked and deleted so I made a new one, this one. I've technically be a deviant for over 2 years, through two accounts.
Making this one account is probably the best idea I've ever had because I've made so many friends off here and have gotten a lot of feed ack on my work.
A friend from high school had a DA account for a high school course. She abandoned it years ago, but she insisted I get a DA account. She encouraged me to show off my visual artsy side even though I was very music-driven back then. She encouraged a few others from our social group to join as well. By the looks of it, I'm the only one that's maintained my account lol.
It took a LOT of persuading on her part. I graduated from high school seven years ago, but have only had this account for four years. The deciding factor was that my former step sister (ex step sister? I'm sure there's a name for step siblings that are no longer step siblings on account of our parents breaking up lol) who was 13 years old at the time was able to maintain her own DA account so I decided to join.
I don't regret any moment I have spent on here. The majority of the activity on here does build up confidence with my artistic ability, and I've had the pleasure of meeting many interesting people on this site. I may have my dry spells where I don't visit for months at a time, but I would never completely deactivate my account.
I'm not too sure to be honest. I sort of knew her username and I joined around the time our parents broke up, but I couldn't find her by searching anything that I thought was her username lol. She was very heavily into visual arts and traditional art so I'm assuming she would still be lurking somewhere here on DA.
